Golf Courses
Lake Marion
Nestled right in the heart of Santee, Lake Marion Golf Course opened in 1978 and remains a perennial favorite. Designed by Eddie Riccoboni, the layout features MiniVerde Bermuda greens—a hybrid Bermuda surface renowned for its consistent speed and accuracy. You’ll weave through pine‑tree lined fairways, water hazards, and 47 well‑placed bunkers that present just the right challenge. It’s both fair and fun, making it a great test for all skill levels. Visitors also praise its large pro shop and lighted driving range, perfect for warming up or browsing gear.
Santee Cooper
A scenic gem opened in 1967 and redesigned by George Cobb, Santee Cooper is framed by majestic pines and native Lowcountry foliage. Its risk‑reward design features dogleg holes, strategic bunkers, shifting elevations—and a closing hole that offers panoramic lake views. The course plays to a par‑72 and has earned praise for both beauty and challenge. Plus, it’s right alongside Lake Marion, making it a perfect companion round to Lake Marion Golf Course.
Santee National
Just minutes from I‑95, Santee National is a true two‑course in one: the front nine is open and strong—while the back nine tests your precision among rolling hills, moss‑draped oaks, and four strategically-placed lakes. With Champion Bermuda greens and crystal‑white bunkers, the course delivers beauty and challenge. The par‑72 layout has earned four stars from Golf Digest’s Places to Play. Don’t skip the iconic par‑3 #17—Santee’s very own “Amen Corner.”
Orangeburg Country Club
Located about 23 miles southwest in Orangeburg, this upscale club offers sweeping views of the Edisto River across a championship course originally designed by Ellis Maples, renovated by Richard Mandell in 2009. Now stretching roughly 7,000 yards, its tour‑caliber maintenance—featuring Champion Bermuda greens and fast putting surfaces—has earned accolades like “Most Improved Course” and “Top 50 Courses in SC.” It’s a top pick for both its scenic layout and stellar conditions.
Players Course at Wyboo
Nestled along the shores of Lake Marion, The Players Course is known for its player-friendly design—with just twelve bunkers and minimal water hazards. The layout, carved from wooded terrain, features new Tif‑Eagle Bermuda greens, large undulating targets, and a front/back nine contrast that keeps things interesting. With just over 6,900 yards from the back tees, it rewards strategic play without over-intimidating.
Crowfield Golf Club
About an hour away in Goose Creek, Crowfield Golf Club offers an 18-hole, par‑72 layout at around 7,005 yards. Widely praised for its friendly staff, well-maintained grounds, and family-feeling environment, it’s ideal for friendly tournaments or a reliable round outside of Santee. The club is a beloved public course in the Lowcountry that blends challenge with approachability.
